About free to be me

Hello,

My name is Chdel Cooke - don't worry about how to say Chdel, think 'Sh-delle', and you'll be pretty close. I won't be offended :)

My background is working with people who are neurodivergent, and their families. I also have a lived experience that allows me to bring a broader understanding than is typical in therapy.

Nature is an essential resource for me. I enjoy cold water swimming, walking in woods or along the glorious coastline of South West Wales, and pottering in my tiny garden; it does my soul good: I feel restored and refreshed. For me, an adventure begins when I pull on my walking boots and slap on my Tilly hat - even if I am walking my dog around the block. If the day can finish with a fire pit and a friend, I consider it a day well spent.

I live on the Carmarthenshire/Pembrokeshire border, a hop skip and a jump from Ceredigion. I am therefore ideally placed to access bustling market towns, beaches, and country walks. My therapy room is in Carmarthen, and I offer Walking Therapy at various locations in the beautiful three counties area.

I love spoken word performances, storytelling, music, live gigs, drama and have a degree in Creative Writing. Throughout my working life, I have used these interests to communicate and engage with people in ways that catch their interest. I enjoy a shared endeavour and the opportunity to learn something new.

Transactional Analysis is an elegant and effective form of talking therapy. I will introduce you to various TA principles as they are relevant to you, assisting you to consider and apply them to your life and situation. They appear simple, but deeper meaning emerges as we work together to explore and consider.

I offer Walking Therapy, Face-to-Face Individual and Couples therapy or online sessions on Zoom, and group courses.

Walking therapy uses the natural world to help ground and soothe the senses freeing a person to consider their reasons for seeking therapy. Often people feel more able to talk and think about their situations when in nature, walking side-by-side.

Face-to-Face sessions are in my dedicated, discreet, private and comfortable therapy room. May I suggest meeting online if you have mobility issues as my room is upstairs?

Couples therapy is not just for romantic couples; any two people who have something they would like to work on can come - siblings, friends, neighbours, business partners - the possibilities are endless. Who would you like to bring?

I welcome the difference and similarities you will bring to my Practice.

So often, it is in our differences that we find the most richness and vitality: I welcome people of faith or none; people who express their sexuality differently to me or not; people who are of a different age to me, or social background or education.

Who you are is interesting to me, and I am looking forward to meeting you.
